Great piece that is exceptionally Articles Of Interest-y in terms of its research and interweaving of history/culture/technology

Very few can elegantly weave skateboarding history and Finnish architecture into the same 5 minute read

Aalto fact!!! The savoy vase is an iconic piece of his glassware, fluid like his architecture, on the shelf of every finnish home next to the moomin mug and the mari totes.

his famous collection of vases is titled Eskimoerindens skinnbuxa (The Eskimo Woman's Leather Breeches), based on a sketch he did, appreciating the flexible but structured form of a relaxed fit. From pants we come pants we return to

Fascinating and well researched connection to architecture. Fascinating design process: 2D fabric into 3D form for 4D movement.

Exactly! The process from going from 2D to 3D into 4D movement Is really what inspires a lot of my designs. I really like the way you stated this. I often subconsciously design this way and its cool to think about how each Dimension of the process isn't complete without the other.

Wow!! This is a super interesting article. Nerdy, historically accurate and oddly specific? Love it. Plus, I now NEED those pants!

Appreciate that! First drop is small, but they are out now. Designed to move with you-Hope you get to try them!

This is the kind of writing that unfolds like a magician's trick or--at least from the perspective of the uninitiated--the simple miracle of an ollie. Superb. Reminds me a lot of a great piece Steven Kennedy just published over at The Enthusiast:

This is so fascinating! I am also just tickled to death by August's pants solution; it feels like an incredibly complex solution to a problem. Like here he is, going back to first principles, Reinventing Pants (and the pattern is gorgeous, you're totally right!) and meanwhile when my daughter skateboards she just... wears leggings? (Entirely possible that there are things these pants are doing that leggings don't, and also I wonder if leggings-as-solution would even occur to an adult man.)

Wow! Big thanks to Avery for weaving skating, curves, and design into such a killer story. Also thanks to everyone that had the chance to read it, and to those who dropped a comment. ScervGear was created through endless hours of design work along with real world testing, and hearing that it resonates with people is very encouraging. Grateful for the support!

Wow, love how this brings in your old 99pi stuff as well. As a sewist, I would love to hear more about the construction of those amazing pants.

Hi there, I originally created the pants for my final thesis in fashion school, the project was all about body movement when skating and snowboarding. The patterns are hand drafted and can be tricky to sew because of all of the curves. The pants also take a lot of inspiration from my snow gear with design elements like zipper vents for airflow.

Great work on the zippers and curves. Definitely not for the weak of heart. Thank you!
