Decades ago, when I lived in South Africa I knew these shoes as veldskoen, which I took to mean something like “prairie shoe”. But I just looked it up and it’s possibly from the Dutch for animal pelt, “vel’.
I enjoyed this episode enough that I immediately placed an order with Brother Vellies for their Something Special subscription on 10/27/23, for which nothing has been received as of 1/27/24. I have subsequently discovered, to my great dismay, that Brother Vellies has an F rating on the Better Business Bureau site and a long history of not delivering anything and being unreachable.
I wanted to give a heads up to others who may have felt inspired to make an order after listening to the episode to learn from my mistake.

And while I understand that creating new episodes is quite demanding of you, I am nonetheless greedy for more. Looking forward to whatever you are able to bring us in 2024.
